Director of Nigel Gainey Opticians he qualified as an optometrist in 2001. Having worked with Co-op Eyecare he practiced as a locum optician for five years with many large optical companies and several independent optometric practices before directing his own practice

Dispensing Optician
Qualified in 1989 as a Dispensing Optician. He has over 30 years optical experience working for the practice in St Budeaux before it was purchased by Nigel Gainey in 2008.

Jane Whittington Receptionist
Is an optical administrator, pre-screening specialist and has now completed the diabetic screening qualification. She has over 10 years' experience in optics, working for other well known independent opticians. Jane joined the team in 2008.

Rachel qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2025, bringing with her over 19 years of extensive experience in the optical industry. She joined our team in 2021 and is passionate about helping patients find the perfect eyewear, combining expert knowledge with a friendly, personalised approach.

Nicola Terry Receptionist / Marketing Manager
‘Nicola joined the team in 2015 and has built 10 years of optical experience. She completed her NVQ Level 2 in customer service in 2016, Qualified as an optical assistant in 2020 an added Digital marketing to her skill set in 2024.
